What to wear
on the day of the photoshoot?
01
Stay away from logos, writings and graphics!
It might be your favourite brand or the superhero that your child aspires to be when growing up, but clothes with logos, graphics and big writings are best not used during a photoshoot. They are very distracting and take away the timelessness of your images.
03
Texture is great, a little pattern is good!
Texture is good way to make the outfit interesting without drawing too much attention. You can choose knitted, lace and linen. A little pattern with control is good. Maybe just one or two members could wear an outfit with patterns, such as a striped pants or flowery skirts and the rest of the family coordinate with colour. It is best to keep the patterns small and limited though.
02
Pick a colour theme!
Choose a limited palette to start with. Stay away from putting pure white together with pure black or extreme light/ dark contrast. If shooting outdoors, not going with bright colours would be best. Generally speaking, neutrals, pastels and gentle hues work better as they take away the focus from the outfits.
04
Consider the setting of the shoot!
You can coordinate your outfits with the location of the shoot. For example soft pastel hues work really well at the beach. White and cream linen look great for summer outdoor shoots. If the session is carried out in your house, the style and colour of your home have to be taken into account.
05
How you feel is important!
It is important that your outfit is both comfortable and makes you feel good about yourself.
